Imagine Nigerians

If the people around the Niger
Would become one,
Then the different tribes
Will speak one language,
And Abdulqudus can marry Midong.

The laughter of the Benue river
Will send our souls into unity’s abyss.
And the symphonies will hang
Around our nostrils,
Keeping hatred out of lives forever.

There won’t monsters in disguise,
Who yearn to feed on tears and cries.
And there won’t be Chibok,
And Plateau, and Kaduna.

And we would not wish
For wishes to be
Horses.
