If I were my mother.

mother

My mother was so beautiful and kind
She lived for others and forgot herself
They all had good things to say when she died

But if I were she, I wouldn’t have tried
to put any person before myself
Neither would I believe that love is blind

From a young age I would make up my mind
That the best love form is the love of self
before a man comes to make me his bride

I wouldn’t let down my guard or my pride
My daughter will learn this and be herself
and my sons would always be on their grind.

I hope she was happy with her choices
I got to know her through others voices
