Poetry: The Truth About Myself

An abyss
Many shades of many things
One time, I’d go to war with myself
Other times, I’ll make peace with strangers

I’m constantly on my toes
Fighting a war about peace
Between good and the ultimate goodness
I’m my friend and I’m the enemy

Many times I need finding
A lot of buts, a lot of ifs
A lot of wrongs too long to right
A lot of Yesses that should have been Nos

A conscience that is a compass
On the sea of life, the sailor
On the Sahara, the oasis
And when I falter, the whip
